The Coalition for Better Housing, or CBH, is a non-profit association of San Francisco residential real estate owners dedicated to making their collective voice heard at City Hall and with the voters.
Founded in 1979 shortly before the City passed its first rent control ordinance, CBH represents many of the largest operators of rental housing. CBH made its mark in local politics by leading the effort to defeat three vacancy control initiatives that were placed before the San Francisco electorate in the 1980s and 1990s.
Today, we inform our members with monthly speakers ranging from the mayor, members of the Board of Supervisors, business leaders, and policy makers. While the organization does not endorse any candidate or initiative, its membership regularly participates in campaigns and ballot measures that impact the housing industry. Membership is by invitation only, yet all owners of multifamily housing in San Francisco are welcome to apply.
